Yup, not my current boyfriends parents, but my ex husbands parents! I know everyone thinks we are all a little crazy, but it works. Since we are homeless ( remember the hockey players are inhabiting our house) and we were frozen out of the cottage (its not winterized). We had to come up with a plan, I told my friends and family that if we didn't receive an invitation we would pitch a tent in their front yard.
My ex's were the only ones that would accept the whole package Tyler myself and KoKo (even though KoKo's welcome lasted 10min) Unfortunately she became a wild dog while at the cottage (and peeing on the gazillion dollar carpet wasn't on the McLeans wish list.
Some may find having Friday night dinner with my ex sister and brother in law and my ex husband and his wife strange, we don't. Tyler has settled in well as an honorary McLean. Remember the movie about this type of thing? Oh no there hasnt been one made, I guess it up to me.
How lucky am I to have them welcome not just me but Tyler too.

my version of blairwitch project
Since the days are going quickly I thought I would make sure my navigation skills and my gear were still in tact. I took a hike through the woods with my new waterproof Salomon hiking shoes. I thought 30 mins was a good start but I am so eager to be the best adventure hiker so i kept going for a hour. when i turned around to go back i got lost and my dog took off on me. luckily i brought my iphone to call tyler but al he could say is "head to the water" duh if i knew where the water was i wouldn't be lost.
I videoed when I was starting to get nervous as I had to laugh about what the blair witch people felt like.
I at least didn't have boogers running down my nose.
I did eventually make it back without help. It only took me 3 1/2 hours. Lessons learned
1. If not following a path tie ribbon on the trees
2. bring warm clothes when you hiking in the fall.
3. Bring a dog that has good navigation skills
4. water
Any hikers please leave comments on what else should be taken.

Round the world tickets vrs pay as you go and how do I build an itinery
These are my opinions about pre booking travel
My first false reality came when I thought I could google search a much less expensive fair by booking myself and saving An agents cost.
Well after 10 hours researching, a bottle and a half of conundrum ( the best white wine ever). I realized I was frustrated, confused, annoyed and a little intoxicated
Here are the steps you need to accomplish pre take off
1 decide what countries you want to see ( make a list)
2. Figure out where you want to start your journey ( we are starting in Australia because my sister lives there.
3. Unless you have done the around the world trek before I would suggest dealing with a company that specializes in around the world travel. I tried getting quotes from 3 different companies.
My highest recommendation to you is air treks.com. Ask for Michael worman. He not only found the cheapest fares but recommended stopovers for nominal fee. We now are stopping over in hong kong, turkey, kuala lumpur We would never have been able to do this booking on our own.
He also gave us must see destinations and helped us choose the amount of time to stay at each.
They also obtain your first visa and you get travel insurance for free ( it might have been a promotion)
If you can believe our trip which consists of
Toronto- hong kong- melborne ( Australia) - kuala lumpur- bangkok- Cairo- Frankfurt
All for $4200 each all taxes in
This to me is amazing. Michael also has information books, ability to call anytime and your not alone if something happens.
Huge relief to know we are all set. The call only took 45 min and they sent the sticker the next day.
We booked 3 weeks before we are leaving but Michael suggests 4-6 months for better prices.
Please ask any questions you have as there is so much info on this and it is very individual

My daughter Tia
This is my beautiful daughter, Tia. Yes, I gave birth to her naturally; I didn't receive an epideral as her paternal grandmother, who was in the room with me, did not believe in pain medication (therefore, I did not believe in pain medication). What did I know at 19?! (when Tia has a baby, I told her to walk in the delivery room backwards so they can hook up the epideral before she even lays down).
Oh ya, her father is St. Lucian--it's not a perfect tan.
Tia and I often wonder what people are thinking when we walk down the street holding hands. I say they think 'what beautiful sisters' (thanks to the Botox and Restylane), she says they think we are lesbians.
Everyone laughs when I say we look like twins (I really do think so).
As we haven't started the travel yet, I will you give some background into my crazy life. More to come...
